One can easily find plenty to do in our fair city. Dameron Park, Veteran’s Park, and Aquatic Center Park, are greatplaces for family outings. Abundant shade and lots of space enhance the appetite for picnics and family games. For those who enjoy swimming, the Aquatic Center is one of the finest "all season" facilities in West Texas. In the winter, we just cover it with the dome and continue on.
If sports is your niche, Hereford has outstanding sports facilities. Whiteface Stadium offers a modern track facility that is utilized by many for walking and exercising. Kids Inc. has an outstanding baseball complex for kid’s programs. Hereford’s gymnasiums are among the finest and the YMCA is as good as it gets. John Pitman Golf Course is an 18 hole course that is a favorite of the entire Panhandle area

The Hereford Country Club offers a fantastic outdoor pool and excellent tennis courts. They also offer cookouts and family outings for those who prefer a more secluded atmosphere. The Country Club is definitely one of Hereford’s most outstanding facilities.
If you’re just interested in sightseeing, why not take in the Deaf Smith County Museum? Perhaps you would like to see the Prisoner of War Chapel. You really should see the "all marble" Courthouse, the Spicer Gripp Rodeo Arena and the Rock Club House that houses the Veterans of Foreign Wars. How about visiting one of our new modern dairies, or taking a tour of our many cattle feeding operations? After you’ve visited the E.B. Black House, you’ll be ready for a tour of homes to see some of Hereford’s finest abodes.
If you want a leisurely afternoon of just plain fun, we suggest you visit Lone Star Bowl and enjoy the lanes or go to Moovies 6 and enjoy the latest releases with a choice of six movies. Or, you could just enjoy yourself at our many shops and downtown businesses for a day of shopping. If you’re of the senior persuasion, you can’t go wrong at the most outstanding senior citizens facility in Texas.
Our calendar gets pretty full throughout the year with all kinds of fun activities. The Chamber Banquet, Tierra Blanca Golf Classic, Spicer Gripp Memorial Roping, Pioneer Days Celebration, Little Miss Pageant, Mop and Broom Sale, Carnival, Championship Volleyball, Christmas Lighting Event, and worship every Sunday are just some of the activities that make Hereford, Texas a fantastic place to raise a family. |
