Hereford is
ideally located in the western Texas Panhandle at the intersection of U.S.
Highway 60 which extends coast to coast and U.S. Highway 385 which expands from
Canada to Mexico. With an altitude of 3,800 ft. above sea level and a mean
temperature of 57degrees, Hereford is suited for just about any kind of activity
or venture. The wide-open plain is most suitable for raising and feeding cattle.
An excellent transportation system contributes to a very diverse economy. Just a
short distance away is Palo Duro State Park, home of the famous outdoor
presentation of the musical drama "Texas Legacies." Hereford is just a short
distance from Lake Meredith to the east and the beautiful mountains of New
Mexico to the west, just a stone’s throw from Amarillo and only a hop, skip, and
a jump from Lubbock. This places us in a convenient location to major medical
facilities. West Texas A&M University is only 30 minutes away and Texas Tech
University is only an hour and a half from our fair city. Amarillo College is
about a fifty minute drive. You could say that our location is a real asset for
business and pleasure. It certainly helps to sustain a great economy.
