Given this fact, the Hereford Independent School District is committed to seeing that each and every student receives a quality education and will be able to make positive contributions to our community and region in the future.

The school system has consistently performed above expectations in virtually all categories – whether in the academic or extra-curricular arena. Even a cursory glance at the accomplishments of those within the school system will bear out the fact that H.I.S.D. is a quality school system with highly motivated and well-trained staff members.

In order to meet the needs of a diverse student population of over 3500 students the school system employs in excess of 550 people and has a total budget exceeding $25,000,000. The district is governed by seven elected members serving three-year terms. Each member is an elected representative from a particular geographical area of the school system. Elections are held each May as necessary.
