Educational Opportunities

Ample opportunity for a great education can be found in Hereford. The Hereford school system is one of the oldest in the Texas Panhandle and was established more than 100 years ago. Today, in the same innovative spirit we continue to be dedicated to a well-rounded education.

The Hereford Independent School District operates eight campuses from elementary through secondary, Hereford Junior High grades 6th through 8th, Hereford High School grades 9th through 12th and Stanton Learning Center, an alternate campus.

Four private Christian schools offer an alternative to public education. St. Anthony’s School – grades K through 6th, Nazarene Christian Academy – grades K through 8th, Community School – grades K through 12th, and First Baptist Kindergarten – grades K-4 and K-5. All have excellent facilities, programs, and teachers. Each contributes to the accomplishment of successful education in Hereford.

Post-secondary education opportunities are available at nearby Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University. Both are only a short drive from Hereford. Evening classes are available to Hereford residents through cooperation with H.I.S.D. and Amarillo College. If one prefers the atmosphere of a larger campus, Texas Tech University is only one hundred miles away. Any way you look at it, educational opportunity abounds in Hereford, Texas.
